Cary Branch Of Canadian Company Lands NATO Contract

The Cary office of a Canada-based company has struck a big deal with NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Montage.DMC will set up new software that will streamline financial operations at nineteen NATO locations.

Montage.DMC employees beat out several huge companies for the multi-million dollar job. They will install new e-business software at each site, allowing better management of NATO's financial operations.

"They looked for a tool that could allow them to set up a common status, common procedures at the same time they could re-engineer their business processes," said Randy Sjoquist, practice manager.

Montage won the contract with its technical know-how and because it understands NATO's needs, one of which is security

"We have 19 sites across Europe that don't communicate (with) each other for that very reason. So that's another one of the challenges, but it's really something we don't want to talk a lot about," said Ric Pankrat, regional vice-president.

The installation team starts with six people, but that may grow to 15. They will face challenges other than security.

"Sending out teams into 19 different cultures, different cities, different languages across Europe (will be a challenge)," said Pankrat.

Montage.DMC clients include Red Hat, Nortel, Ford, Honda and the Canadian government, but this is the biggest deal so far for the Cary group. It could help get future business.

"We're doing it for an organization that's this important, we can do the same thing for you, and do it very well," said Sjoquist.
