The man who ran the state's ferry division for more than a decade is due in court Monday.

Jerry Gaskill is charged with conspiracy to violate the state's clean water act and lying to investigators.

The charges stemmed from his role in illegal dredging of a channel for a ferry between Corolla and the Currituck County mainland.

If convicted, he could get 14 years in prison and more than $650,000 in fines.
