Walking Tour Offers A Rich History of Cary

From the stained glass windows at First Baptist Church to the bricks that form Ashworth Pharmacy, a walking tour of Cary is full of interesting notes.

The town is now offering walking tours once a month that offer some insight into Cary's past.

The first stop is the Page-Walker Arts and History Center. Stroll down Academy Street and learn about the notable buildings that still line the street, including Ashworth Drugstore.

Several historic homes, including the Raven House, are also on the tour.

Besides learning about the architectural significance of the buildings, guides share the personal histories of people who lived in Cary.

There are 15 stops that cover a four-block area.

The Cary walking tours take place the first Tuesday of each month from June through October. The tours, which last an hour, begin at 10 a.m. and costs $5 per person.
