A Triangle company is helping colleges make their courses more convenient and user-friendly.

Edupriseprovides "electronic learning services" to about 60 colleges and universities around the country and is in the forefront of the knowledge economy.

The idea of Eduprise began with Dr. William Graves and his work atUNC-Chapel Hill. The company develops strategies for putting technology to work using educational software developed by other companies.

A number of colleges and universities, including UNC-Wilmington, partner with Eduprise. The University of Baltimore increased its MBA enrollment by 25 percent.

"Time is very important to people and the idea of the ?anyplace, anytime learning? really meets the demands in the marketplace for flexibility of time," says Ron Able, vice-president of business development.

Creating academic courses provided to students online lessens the need for brick and mortar at colleges and universities.

?Your traditional campus-based students now have options to enroll in online courses,? says Graves. ?What does that do? That reduces the pressure on your physical plant.?

E-learning is being adopted quickly by institutions and students for effectiveness and convenience.

Eduprise offers 24/7 call center support in addition to online, distance learning. The company may expand its offerings to corporate clients who have relationships with universities.
