Man Drowns in Vance County

Investigators are looking into a drowning in Vance County. Authorities said the victim is 42-year-old Jerry Williams of Kittrell.

Investigators say Williams and a group of friends were walking along Kittrell College Road. Williams decided to see if he could swim across a pond.

He ran into trouble, but none of his friends could swim.

His friends ran for help, but Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
