Cobras Play Season's Last Home Game
The first home season of arena football wrapped up Friday night in Raleigh.
The Carolinas Cobras hosted the Tampa Bay Storm in the Cobras' last appearance this season at the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena.
The team's attendance record is one of the best in the league -- despite winning only a few games.
The Cobras' record does not seem to make much of a difference with fans -- an estimated 14,000 people showed up at Friday's game.
"It's not my money the owners spent, but if I were investing in excess of $6 to $7 million for an investment, you know we're in it for the long haul," said the Cobras' Nathan Boudreaux. "And based on the fan support we've gotten so far, we're very excited about next year already."
The Cobras also gave back to the community at the final home game. Football fans donated toys for the team's "Christmas in July" program. All of the league's teams and the Walter Payton Foundation are gathering toys to give to needy children this Christmas.
