House Fire Makes for Smoky Morning

A spectacular house fire filled the sky with dark smoke near Garner Monday morning.

Firefighters battled the blaze at 1429 Southern Acres Road, just west of Garner, near Fayetteville Road. No one was injured.

The owner of the house had been building it in his spare time. He had been working on it for about a year and was preparing to move in.

Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.
