Highway Patrolman Charged With Tax Evasion

A 12-year veteran of the North Carolina Highway Patrol was charged Monday with state income tax evasion.

Trooper Deon Blackmon, who has been on the force since December 1993, was charged with five felony counts of state income tax evasion.

Blackmon is on leave, pending an investigation by Highway Patrol internal affairs. He is free on $50,000 bond. At the Highway Patrol he was assigned to the training academy.
