Divers have not been able to find a body, but it is believed that a man who fell from a boat in Kerr Lake Friday morning has drowned.

The boat was piloted by Claude Weaver of Zebulon. The man who fell overboard was also from Zebulon and is said to be in his early fifties. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family.

A search began at about 11 a.m. Friday and by late afternoon had turned up nothing. Kerr Lake is considered very deep in some areas and the water was said to be about 40 feet deep in the search area.

That could hamper search efforts.

WRAL-TV5 will have more information on this story as it develops
