Durham Teaching Assistant Investigated

Durham school officials are investigating an alleged assault on a student by a teacher's aide.

Officials say it reportedly happened Thursday jat Person Elementary School during an argument between the assistant and a fourth-grade student.

One witness says Eric Harris picked the child up by the arms then pub\t his hands around the child's neck.

The director of human resources says it is his understanding that the student was not injured.

Harris was dismissed for the day
