Funeral Services were held Saturday for 12-year-old Preston Stancil, a Carnage Middle School 7th-grader who died Wednesday night of a rare viral infection known as Meningo Coccemia, a form of Meningitis.

Some parents had expressed concern, even though Raleigh school officials sent letters notifying them of the death. Not all parents received the letters, and were upset that their children might have been exposed to the deadly disease.

Dr. Peter Morris, Wake County's medical director said it would be extremely unusual for anyone to have been infected by Stancil, even though Meningo Coccemia is a contagious disease. Its three-to-four-day incubation period period meant he was out of school because of bad weather while he was most contagious
