Fans Fill Up Reynolds Coliseum For H.S. Basketball Game

Basketball fans fought through bumper-to-bumper gridlock Tuesday night to get to Reynolds Coliseum to see a high school game.

Ticket officials say people started lining up at the gate at 4:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. Broughton High/Leesville Road game. Many people came to see Broughton's star junior Shavik Randolph and Leesville's Anthony Richardson, but everyone did not get a chance to see the game.

"It took us 30 minutes just to get on campus. Every time we tried to turn in, they (the police) told us to go a different way," says fan Cindy Rice. "We finally got a parking place up front, but there are no tickets now."

"We finally got a parking space, and then we came here and found out that they are not selling any more tickets. That's a real bummer," says fan Bill Robertson.

More than 3,500 people filled Broughton's Holliday gymnasium to see the first meeting between the two teams so Leesville official decided to change the venue of the game to Reynolds Coliseum. However, the venue change did not come cheap. Leesville had to pay $3,500 for it.

In the game, Leesville defeated Broughton 77-66.
