Sexual Assault Suspect May Have Used Internet to Find Victims

A man arrested last month for sexually assaulting women in Carrboro and Chapel Hill may have used the Internet to track down his victims.

Dwayne Russell Edwards, 33, is accused of multiple sex crimes, most of them against UNC students.

Before his arrest, Edwards was employed by a temp service as a clerk at UNC's Davis Library. Police are looking into the possibility that Edwards accessed Internet sites not available outside the university.

According to the university's policy, no photos, audio or video can be posted on a campus Web site without first obtaining permission from the student. A release form is also required for any printed campus material.

Edwards is in the Orange County Jail with a $4.1 million bond.
