NCCU Students Complain of Unsafe Dorm Conditions
Some students at North Carolina Central University say they are forced to live in an unsafe and unhealthy environment on campus.
This weekend, the ceiling in a dorm bathroom collapsed. Another ceiling collapse, that occurred in October, has not been repaired.
Students say there is also a problem with broken windows, broken lights, roaches and rats.
Even the director of residential life at NCCU admits many buildings are in a crisis situation.
"A lot of the buildings, because of the years of not having money to keep them up as they should, we're in a situation where some of them are in [bad shape] right now," says Paul Goldblatt, residential life director.
The university hopes the recently passed education bond will provide the money to fix the problems.
