One Killed, Another Injured In Two Chapel Hill Pedestrian Accidents

One man was killed and another injured in two separate accidents involving pedestrians and drivers in Chapel Hill on Monday.
Police said a 54-year-old man was crossing Highway 15-501 at Bennett Road, heading east, at about 7 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. The collision is still under investigation, and both the pedestrian and the driver's names are being withheld.
Another pedestrian collision occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on West Franklin Street. Police said a westbound vehicle struck Antonio Gattis as he attempted cross the road.
Police said that Gattis suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and was taken to UNC Hospitals for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle was not charged in the collision.
