Parents Seek Closure In Son's Murder

Francis and Betty Adams drove from Nebraska to Fayetteville to say goodbye to their son. Before they go home, the couple wants to make sure his killer is caught.

Betty Adams cannot talk about her son Scott, or his murder, without breaking down in tears. A phone call woke them up in the middle of the night, and someone said their son had been murdered.

She and her husband Francis have spent the last two days grieving and reminiscing.

"He was light-hearted, and we loved him for that," Francis says. "I think he made everybody else's life a little brighter if they knew him, and that's what we'd like to remember."

Scott Adams, a grocery store assistant manager, was gunned down and robbed as he was making a night deposit at a Fayetteville bank Saturday night. Despite what happened to their son, the Adams family has found love and support in Fayetteville.

"Everyone has been so fantastic," Betty says. "They'll do anything for you, just come up to you and hug you."

The Adams family needs one more thing for closure. They need someone who may have seen or heard something the night of the murder to call police and help put the killer behind bars.

"Please come forward. Anyone who knows anything please, please come forward and help solve this," Betty says. "We'll have peace of mind and they will, too."

A memorial service for Scott Adams will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Fayetteville's Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
