Strike Threatens Food Lion Stores

A strike threatens theFood Liongrocery stores. About 175 local truck drivers met with upper management Sunday at the distribution plant in Dunn.

The drivers say the company is cutting back on their hours. Now the drivers are seeking some remedies to help offset the lost pay.

"I moved from another state to come down here and work for this corporation. I sacrificed a lot, packed up and set up housekeeping down here. Now I feel like the company said we don't care because we can replace you, and I've given this company 17 years of my life," says driver John Dennis Hartness.

The truck drivers will meet again next Sunday to discuss their options, which include going on strike.

Representatives from Food Lion have not commented on the truckers concerns.
