Bond Raised for Raleigh Man Accused of Child Sex Crimes

A Wake County judge on Thursday raised the bond of a Raleigh photographer accused of child sex charges.

Ted Booker, who was out of jail under $50,000 bond, was put back in jail after Wake County Superior Court Judge Paul Ridgeway raised the bond to $750,000.

Wake County Assistant District Attorney Jeff Cruden told Ridgeway that Booker confessed to a former girlfriend that he had assaulted many other victims. He also received calls after WRAL first reported the story earlier this week.

Visitor comments on WRAL.com, in which posters wrote that Booker might be violating terms of the original bond, were also were a factor in Cruden's request, he said.

Booker, who runs Artistic Image Studio in North Raleigh, was indicted Monday on three sex charges -- two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and one count of statutory rape. The crimes occurred in the late 1980s and 2006.

Booker and his attorney, Scott Wilkinson, refused to comment Thursday.

In court, however, Wilkinson claimed Booker, who was arrested in March, didn't violate the terms of bond in which he was required to stay away from children and not take photos of them.

Wilkinson said that whenever children came to the studio, Booker left and had an assistant take the photos.
