Rabid Raccoons Reported in Raleigh
Wake County authorities are alerting residents to beware of wild animals acting strangely, especially raccoons.
The county has had six reports of rabies this year. Four cases, all involving raccoons, have been reported in Raleigh.
The most recent cases have been in the areas of Leesville Road and Lake Wheeler Road.
Strange behavior to be aware of:
Pet owners are urged to make sure their pets vaccinations are up to date. North Carolina and Wake County laws require pet owners to vaccinate any dog or cat that is at least four months old.
