An Answer To Johnston County Schools' Reassignment Blues?

When parents hear about plans to move their kids to different schools, many get pretty upset. No one wants to be told to change schools, but one school system will beat the boundary line blues when a new school opens.

Johnston County schools are planning to try something different this fall. The superintendent has decided to form advisory councils of parents, PTAs and school administrators to help with reassignment plans.

"I think it's easier. It's a lot more acceptable when the parents and the community itself has some input to start with," says parent Angie Cobb.

More than 1,000 students from McGee's Crossroads, West Clayton, and Cleveland schools will move to the new Polenta Elementary.

Cleveland Elementary is the most overcrowded and will lose the most kids. Johnston County schools will hold a public hearing on the reassignment plan on 7 p.m. April 2 at Cleveland Elementary School.
