Army Values More Like Human Values for Soldiers

As soldiers eat in the dining hall at Fort Bragg Military Base they see them posted on the wall. They now also carry a list of them in their wallets and attach them to their ID tags. They are seven core values being reintroduced to army soldiers everywhere.

The army wants its troops to know the soldier's code and wants them to live by it. In fact, the list of core values must be carried with soldiers at all times.

"Everybody needs some work," said SPC. Lawrence Golas. "Nobody can say that they're perfect and that they're 100 percent sure with all their values. So it's just a reminder to everybody that, 'Hey maybe I can change something.'"

The key values are loyalty, duty , respect, selfless-service, honor, integrity and personal courage.

Soldiers will soon see films that explain the values. They are geared toward the younger soldiers.

"Many young soldiers come into the military lack a moral sense because religion, our church affiliation, has not been a part of their life. And many of them come from broken families," said Bob Hayner, chief of TV production.

Soliders say the codes are more representative of human values rather than army values.
