Sanford Drug Trade Takes a Big Hit

Thursday, Sanford law enforcement seized over $1 million in cocaine and $57,000 in cash.

After several days of surveillance, agents with the city-county drug unit assisted by a selective enforcement unit conducted a raid on a Charlette Avenue residence and made three arrest.

Cpt. Dan Kehagias said that agents searched a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass at the residence. The search revealed a hidden compartment between the rear seat and the trunk.

Agents found seven kilos of cocaine in the car that had a street value of $1.4 million.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of $57,000 in cash, and a pump action pistol grip shotgun.

Luis Salana Salinas, 33, and Pedro Sanchez-Carachudi, 62, were charged with trafficking in cocaine by possession and transportation, conspiracy to traffic cocaine and possession with intent to sell.

Luz Maria Lagunas-Jarmilla was also charged with the three drug charges, and with a felony of maintaining a vehicle to keep drugs.
