A 21-year-old Raleigh man died Friday morning after, police said, his pickup truck ran off the road, hit a ditch and overturned.

Christopher Glen Rogers was ejected from his truck and landed on the road around midnight as he drove in Johnston County on Highway 42 West about two miles off I-40, said Trooper Kelly Watkins.

There were no passengers in the car.

Rogers was then taken to WakeMed, where he was listed in critical condition Friday morning. Calls to WakeMed about his condition were not immediately returned Friday afternoon and evening. A hospital representative, on Saturday, confirmed Rogers' death.

Alcohol was not a factor, but Rogers was probably driving about 15 to 20 miles over the posted 45 mph speed limit, police said.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
