Police Identify Body Found Near I-440

A body found in woods near the Hammond Road/Interstate I-440 interchange was identified Monday.

Raleigh police said the man was Dennis Okeefe Sanders, 50, of Smithfield.

A missing person report for Sanders was filed with the Smithfield Police Department on October 15. It was reported that Sanders was last seen on Oct. 11.

An investigation by the Raleigh Police Department and an examination by the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are continuing.
