Two Die In Head-On Collision On I-95

Two people died after a two-car head-on collision Monday afternoon along Interstate 95 near Rocky Mount, authorities said.

At about 1:45 p.m., one of the cars , driven by Patricia Clark, 62, of Rocky Mount, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes and hit another car, driven by Edward Bond, 46, traveling southbound near mile marker 138, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The drivers of both cars were killed in the accident.

Traffic was backed up for 10 miles while crews worked to clear the scene. By 4:30 p.m., both southbound lanes of I-95 had been reopened, but traffic was moving slowly.
