On Tuesday, an Orange County judge ordered a school janitor to register as a sex offender for allegedly having sex with a special education student and getting her pregnant.

Adam Smith, a janitor at Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough, also received a suspended sentence and probation.

Smith initially accepted a plea deal. A judge rejected that deal last week because the judge did not feel the sentence, which included jail time, was long enough.

When Smith returned to court Tuesday, another judge gave Smith the suspended sentence and probation.
