Doritos Ad Success Sends Cary Producers Sky High
Five young business partners from Cary just returned from the Super Bowl $10,000 richer and more famous than they ever imagined they could be.

How? They produced a TV commercial for Doritos chips as part of a contest. They won it, their ad aired during the game, and contest, and USA Today’s “ad meter” Wednesday ranked their work as fourth among 62 spots shown during the game.

“We're all very popular right now, but we're all still very broke,” Producer Nick Dimondi said.

They started a production company a few months back, about the time they spotted an ad abvout the Doritos contest. They spent two days shooting and $12 on Doritos and then found out their ad was a finalist.

They didn’t find out they had won until they saw their commercial on the air while they were among the finalists in Miami.

“We just burst into tears and yelling and just basically every emotion in the book,” said art director Barrett Phillips.

“They say the sky's the limit, but we're past the sky. Now we're just gonna try and keep going up,” creative director Wes Phillips said.

“It's just a huge stepping block to our next goal,” producer Dale Backus added.
