Authorities Issue Amber Alert For 12-Year-Old Girl

The Rocky Mount Police Department has issued an Amber Alert for a 12-year-old girl who they say is with a man who served time in prison for taking indecent liberties with a child.

Police say the suspected abductor,

Phillip Daniel Denkler

, 27, is a sex offender. He is described as a white male with straight, short, black hair and brown eyes.

The two were last seen in a beige 2005 Hyundai Sonata with North Carolina license plate number

Authorities say the girl's grandmother discovered her missing from their home Friday at about 6:50 a.m.

Denkler was released from prison less than a year ago, according to authorities, after spending close to two years there.
