When the "Boss" comes to North Carolina next week, he will not only be performing but taking a stand on a controversial issue in the state.

For a third time, Bruce Springsteen is hosting

People of Faith Against the Death Penalty

during his solo tour stops in Charlotte on Sunday and Greensboro on Tuesday.

At his concerts in Charlotte and Raleigh in 2000 and again in Chapel Hill in 2003, Springsteen dedicated songs to the North Carolina-based group and suggested that audience members get involved with it.

For decades, the rock star has been almost as famous for his political activism as he is for his music.
