Police have arrested three suspects believed to be involved in a Wednesday afternoon shooting attempt.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office arrested Deonte Marquel Artis, 18, Brian Omar White, 17, and Terrance Davis, 18 Wednesday afternoon after they say the three men broke into a house on Tulane Drive in Goldboro.

A resident of the house, Garrett Carter, had returned to the home during lunch to find the three men inside. Authorities said there was a struggle, in which one of the suspects took a gun out of his pocket and shot at Carter.

The three then fled from the residence and were later found at a house on Nancy Drive, where they were arrested. Investigators also found a revolver that they believe was used in the crime.

Carter received minor injuries during the struggle, but was not hit by the bullet, the sheriff's office said.

Artis, White and Davis have been charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

All three are in the Wayne County Jail with a $40,000 secured bond.
