Some Wake County high school students were stunned at the thought of a $240 parking pass, so they decided to do something about it.

Jenny Hunnicutt has T-shirts, a Web site and a petition for students who oppose the new fee.

Hunnicutt and her friends from Garner High School plan to ask the school board members to change their minds.

All but two school board members voted to increase the price from $120 to $240. The extra money would fund the first raise for coaches and extra duty staff in 17 years.

Wake County's new fee is in line with basic college parking sticker prices. WRAL checked other high school prices in the area and found Durham and Orange County schools charge $75 per year. Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools were slightly higher at $100.
