While state lawmakers continue to hammer out a budget, it appears a small item is already a done deal.

House and Senate budget writers agreed to raise the tax on candy from two percent to five percent.

The idea is to bring the candy tax in line with other items like prepared food and soft drinks.

Lawmakers also believe the increase could bring in up to $16 million a year in revenue.
