Paraglider Dies In Harnett County Accident

A paraglider is dead after an accident in Harnett County.

Authorities say 34-year-old John Alan Burnworth, of Sanford, had taken off using the gas-powered glider from Alpine Street around 8 p.m. Monday.

Shortly after clearing some trees, his glider veered sharply to the right and struck some power lines before landing on the ground.

Burnworth was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, where he died from his injuries.
