A mother of two who had just dropped her children off at school died in a car wreck Monday morning.

Just before 9 a.m. Kenisha Sharron Williams, 23, of Wake Forest, was driving her Mazda westbound on highway 56 in Franklin County.

Authorities said that for an unknown reason, Williams' Mazda ran off the road to the right and hit a mailbox. It then came back onto the highway, slid sideways and was hit in the side by an eastbound Dodge pickup truck.

Williams had just dropped off children at a local school and at a daycare, authorities said.

The 26-year-old pickup truck driver, from Franklinton, was taken to Franklin Regional with non-life-threatening injuries. Police did not release that driver's name.
