Power for 2,300 Duke Energy customers has been restored, officials said, after a two-vehicle accident in Durham knocked out electricity for some residents.

Police said a car, driven by 27-year-old Chadwick Leak, hit two utility poles around 2:44 a.m. Friday on East Cornwallis Road.

The accident caused wires to fall on a second vehicle, a 1985 Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Duke Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Power was fully restored around noon on Friday.

Leak was charged with DWI and crossing the center line.
