Raleigh Man Sentenced For Embezzlement

A judge sentenced a Raleigh man to nearly three years in prison for embezzling almost half a million dollars.

Shawn Davenport worked at a SouthTrust Bank Branch in Cary. Prosecutors say he'd build relationships with clients, then use their credit lines to take out loans.

Davenport would then hide the loans by setting up post office boxes to receive the statements.

In addition to the 34-month sentence, Davenport has to pay back $392,000 to the bank.
