Candidates Request Recounts Before Deadline

The deadline to request recounts in the Nov. 2 election has expired.

Second-place candidates in the races for state Agriculture Commissioner and Superintendent of Public Instruction officially asked for recounts.

Right now, Republican Bill Fletcher is behind Democrat June Atkinson for the top education job.

Democrat Britt Cobb, the incumbent Agriculture Commissioner, trails Republican Steve Troxler.

Recounts were also requested in the the District 10 Court judge's race and the District 50 state Senate race.
