Raleigh Woman's Ministry Serves Final Meal

Mary Judd lives on Swain Street in downtown Raleigh, and dozens of people often gather at her front porch for a free breakfast, but on Wednesday morning, Judd may have served her ministry's final meal.

"It's a hard day for me, hard day," she said.

A few months ago, the city received a complaint about Judd's ministry and conducted an investigation. It realized she was violating a zoning ordinance and gave her 60 days to stop. Wednesday is the deadline.

"It's something that's very unfortunate. I would hope there could be a result whereby she can find an appropriate location," Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker said.

For nearly eight years, Judd has fed the homeless from her front porch -- people who are hungry for hope.

"This ministry is about saving souls," resident Lib Evans said.

"I'm standing in need of blessing, and I'm standing in need of prayer. I know God is going to make a way," Judd said.

Judd said she does not know where she will go. She holds out hope that she will find a building or even a church to move into, but so far, she has had no luck finding one.
