Raleigh Committee Votes Down Proposed Ban On Nighttime Towing
The towing issue is not an issue anymore in downtown Raleigh.
Tuesday afternoon, the City Council Public Safety Committee voted down a proposal that would have banned towing between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The vote was 2-1 to shoot down the plan. The decision meant that any further action will have to be re-introduced during a full meeting of the City Council.
Mayor Charles Meeker, who made the proposal, said he will ask the full council to override the committee's recommendation in the hope it would overrule the committee.
"I am disappointed in the committee's decision," Meeker said. "I will ask the full council to reconsider the vote and do the right thing to protect the citizens of Raleigh"
