An adversary of Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa has died in Durham.

John Cye Cheasty died at his daughter's house on Monday. Hoffa hired Cheasty in 1957 when the union leader was under investigation for corruption.

Cheasty later told Robert Kennedy that he thought Hoffa had asked him to betray his country.

The FBI was called in to protect Cheasty's family during Hoffa's trial. The attorney and former Secret Service agent was 96.
