Hoke County Man Charged With Embezzlement

A man with a local volunteer fire department is in trouble with the law.

According to the State Bureau of Investigation, John Chaplin embezzled almost $5,000 from the Tylertown Volunteer Fre Department.

The smallest fire department in Hoke County, the Tylertown volunteer department runs on just $29,000 per year.

SBI agents said Chaplin was a member of the fire department's board of directors.
