A man wanted in the shooting deaths of two Tarboro men outside a Conetoe nightclub was arrested Tuesday morning.

Derrick Harper is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is being held in the Edgecombe County Jail without bond.

The shootings happened early Sunday morning at Club Hypnotize, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials received a telephone call that two gunshot victims had arrived at Heritage Hospital.

Sheriff James Knight says the victims, Anthony Williams and Donald Damone Hines, were taken to the hospital by friends. Both men died at the hospital.

Authorities say a small-caliber handgun was used in the shootings.

Witnesses reportedly identified Harper as the suspect in the slayings soon after detectives were notified of the crime.
