Ft. Bragg Soldier Killed In Harnett County Wreck

A Fort Bragg soldier on a motorcycle died when he collided with a car on a Harnett County road, the Highway Patrol said.

William Terrell Jones, 35, was traveling more than 100 mph at the time of Saturday afternoon's crash about five miles north of Spring Lake, Trooper V.E. Terry said.

A westbound car turned into the path of the motorcycle, Terry said. Jones slammed on the brakes and was thrown off his vehicle and into the car, the trooper said.

The motorcycle did not hit the car, Terry said.

No charges had been filed Saturday.

Jones' hometown was listed as Baltimore.
