Vance County Reports First Homicide In 2006

A man was found dead in his Warrenton Road home Thursday in Vance County's first homicide of the year, authorities said.

The man, whose name hasn't been released, is described as being in his mid-50s, and authorities said he lived alone. A relative found the man's body on his back porch at about 3 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

Authorities haven't released any information about the cause of death or a possible motive.

The State Bureau of Investigation is helping the Vance County Sheriff's Department with the case.
