Officials: Man Killed In Wreck Near Wake Forest Fell Asleep At Wheel

The state Medical Examiner said a man killed after losing control of his van and running off the road Monday morning near Wake Forest fell asleep at the wheel.

The Highway Patrol said there had been speculation that Richard Bowden may have had a seizure. His van plunged over the railing at Jones Dairy Road off Highway 98 just before 7 a.m.

Bowden died at the scene. His 7-year-old daughter was in the van, but was not injured.
