Wayne County Authorities Continue Investigation Into Double Shooting

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the death of Peggy Brock and the attempted murder of her husband, Johnnie Merle Brock.

According to Sheriff Carey A. Winders, citizens have been helpful providing information. Winders said the investigation shows that the crime was not a random act, but was calculated, with the intention of killing the Brocks.

Winders said robbery does not appear to be the motive, although that has not been ruled out.

Johnnie Merle Brock is being guarded by Wayne County deputies 24 hours a day, Winders said. He is in stable condition.
