Prescription drugs from across the border are becoming an expensive problem in North Carolina and one group wants to do something about it.

The State Board of Pharmacy is suing five North Carolina companies that import prescription drugs from Canada.

Officials claim Canadian drugs are often cheaper than those sold in North Carolina, up to 86 percent less because Canada has socialized medicine.

A board representative said the companies are simply breaking state law.
