A Sampson county school paid tribute Friday to the memory of a fallen football hero.

Harrells Christian Academy unveiled a statue of Will Johnson before last night's football game. Three years ago, the 17-year-old died after he was hit in the chest during a game.

Friday night's game was the first one Will's parents attended at the school, since their son's death.

"Will would want us to do this," said Bob Johnson, Will's father. "We knew there would be a time for us to come back and start enjoying the game again because we love the game. Our family love the game."

David Clemons, the artist who created the statue, moved his entire family from Idaho to Harrells to work on it. It took him six weeks.
