Umstead Park Opening Delayed

Plans to re-open bike trails at Umstead State Park are on hold.

The park was supposed to open earlier this summer. But rain delayed the progress, as well as Friday's scheduled opening.

Construction crews are rebuilding the trails that were damaged in the winter ice storms.

Weather permitting, park officials hope to open about half the trails in a couple of weeks.
