Home Depot Prepares Rocky Mount Location

The work is finally under way for a much anticipated home improvement store down east.

Crews are preparing a site on Hunter Hill Road in Rocky Mount for a Home Depot.

Home Depot wanted to build at the site of Tarrytown Mall, which has been closed since Hurricane Floyd. It had to pick a new location, because the mall site is too low for new construction.

Debate over flood maps pushed back the start of construction several times.
